Estuary Exploration @ Wells Reserve

  • Wells Reserve @ Laudholm Farm 342 Laudholm Farm Road Wells, ME, 04090 United States (map)

*3rd through 8th grades*

Meet: @ Wells Reserve

COST: $30 per learner and accompanying adult

Estuaries are where rivers and oceans meet and mix. With trail adventures and hands-on investigations, we’ll explore Wells Reserve estuaries and learn why they are such important places for wildlife, plants, and people!

Questions we will explore:

  • Who lives here?

  • What are the different parts of an estuary?

  • Is the water healthy?

  • How are biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) parts of the estuary connected?

  • Why are estuaries important?

Note: This experience is designed for learners ages 8-14

Join us as we become Estuary Explorers! We will hit the trail with Wells Reserve guides for a 3-hr adventure focused on watersheds, with investigations on the floating dock, salt marsh, and beach!

What to bring: Appropriate clothing for the weather (Sweater weather maybe), Boots or solid close-toed shoes you are willing to get dirty (no flip-flops), a bag lunch and plenty of snacks, refillable water bottle
