Being an SAU Parent or Guardian Why are there family commitments at SAU?To support our missionTo create a culture and community that is equipped and motivated to participate in and embody our values: thriving relationships, transparency, authenticity, engagement and inclusivity.To support our organization in key functions.To provide a structure within which / through which our community members engage in the community. PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES Participation in SAU community onboarding pathway Includes meetings/conversations with SAU staff and OrientationAttendance at SAU Community Evenings These are held once a month to support the community and the activities of the organization and typically are 90-120 minutes long.Engaging in Parent/Guardian Time & Talent - We require parent/guardian assistance to fulfill the needs of the organization. Tasks, roles, teams, projects and needs will be defined and shared with parents/guardians by SAU Staff. Examples include: repairs, maintenance and improvements to the building and grounds, fundraising events or marketing activities.Includes participation in Community Workdays - ‘all hands on deck’ volunteer days scheduled throughout the year to support the upkeep of the physical environment including the buildings, grounds, and property.Use of and participation in SAU’s online communication platforms. Participation in 1:1 Meetings with an SAU educator, parent/guardian, and child (Full-Time Only)These include three scheduled parent/educator meetings per year including the Homeschool Portfolio Review (approx 60 minutes each), and additional opportunities for parents/guardians to engage with educators throughout the year. Available to part-time families at an additional cost.In addition, there are planned and spontaneous activities throughout the year for families to engage with the community such as field trips, celebrations, performances, etc. Parents are encouraged to attend these gatherings and events and get involved in SAU activities according to their interests and talents.
